Asda Pet Insurance

I think ALL pet insurance is a scam and waste of money. Buy a large piggy bank (or dog/ cat as applicable) and put your premium in that each month. The end.

Based on the fact they’re good wrigglers… 👍
And it was Tesco I dealt with, not RSA
I stand to be corrected by an insurance ‘expert’ but I think you’ll find you were dealing with RSA. It’s just badged as Tesco.

Genuine question as a Tesco insurance customer, what was the issue?

Llasa Apso, so small breed & huge ego. Healthy with KC championship pedigree.
Paid premiums for seven years, with exclusions such as dental care, vaccinations, etc.. Also, insurance excess of £100.
Vet recommended a test for allergies for further treatment. Astronomical test charges. Tesco refuted claim as considered underlying problem possibly apparent in animal’s life. I’m afraid this was a long time ago now and precise details slip my mind, also all correspondence shredded. Again, I don’t recall any reference to RSA and, speed-reading the current Tesco pet policy, it seems much more comprehensive than it was eight years ago.
Happily the chap is healthier than ever, still with us enjoying life and approaching fifteen yo. 👍

We had a 2k claim via Healthy Pets, they paid the vet directly as on their list of insurers (vets list) vet sorted it all, I just got some info on email…. Looking at the link Healthy Pets are a marker study company.

We have pet insurance when they are young and cheap … sorts lifetime conditions and accidents - dog attacks..

Then when they get to 8 or so and the premiums go bonkers I set aside the payments and PAYG…

When our 11 year Springer was put to sleep, after some attempts to save with a three figure bill I covered the costs by the 8-11 year savings pot

Thanks for that. Pleased the dog got through it all.

This is serious money

How do the majority of people afford these prices- some people just do not have this sort of money.

You do without other things to pay the vets bills and that is exactly why these large companies that have almost totally monopolised the market have pet owners by the b*llocks.

Recent vets bills on our GSD means that the money set aside to landscape the garden around the new shed has now gone ,you regularly hear about oldies who will do without food and heating to pay their vets bills

Back at the vets today and she was saying that in the past 6 weeks she has had 11 clients pet insurers knocking back claims , appears that their standard get out clause now seems to be "We believe that this may be a pre existing condition and even if you did not know about it we are refusing the claim"
