I had an off today on a muddy road, the bike 800gs looks ok from where i was lying and is currently stored at a farm near the scene (north of Marnhull) . Unfortunately I have broken my collarbone in 2 places so riding is out of the question. Can anyone recommend a reliable recovery to Bournemouth?

Regards

Harry

Be Glad your not seriously hurt. I'm sure someone local will be Along soon with some help and assistance. GWS

Sent from my iPhone whilst driving and even with autocorrect I can't spell!

try shiply.com , people bid for your delivery , some bike specific couriers on there ... had my gs1150 delivered from bristol to watford for £100 on exactly the day I wanted

Harry, if you can find out if the bike is rideable and you are ok with my offer then I'm happy to ride it back to your house for you. We would have to discuss getting to the bike. Let me know, here or PM.

Jay

Thankyou all for your advice and help, JayC especially.

Near bye

Hi there
I live in Shaftesbury which is only about 5 miles from Marnhull so I would also be happy to help you out with riding it back for you if the other guys on the thread cannot.:thumb2

Find out, if you can, or if you don't already know, who is responsible for the mud on the road.

My mate had a similar off and successfully forced his insurer to recover all his costs and compensation from the land owner. It wasn't a quick process but it saved him his NCB.

Out of interest, how would the land owner stop the mud from getting on the road? Just trying to imagine what I would do if I was the owner of the field on the left of that pic...

No-one would expect the mud not to get onto the road but it's the land owner's responsibility to clean it when it does "escape".

One look at the photo and any reasonable person should accept that in that state it's a hazard to road users.

If you check with your local Highways department, you'll find that any vehicle access is permitted on the understanding that the land owner or contractor (where pipe laying etc takes place), must take reasonable steps to keep the road clean.

not always as easy as the field owner, the mud I came off on was very similar to yours however the owner of the field had sold his crop to another farmer and said other farmer got a contractor in to harvest it. RSS claimed off the second farmers public liability insurance to get my payout

recovery

Bike now safely tucked up in my garage - thanks to JayC. Regarding the mud I appreciate there isn't a lot the farmer can do to stop mud getting on the road however it is a road hazard and needs to be cleaned up without delay - it was after the Police spoke to him. Thank you all for your interest/advice.
