attaching pictures

Some advice please,why do my pictures that I try to put on here lack the sharpness of the originals.I have to change the pixel size to 640*480 to be able to send them.
Other peoples also seem to be of different qualities so I cannot be the only numpty on here(or am I?).

This is a very repetitive problem. The information supplied in a digital photo is way way better than the screen can display. A screen only shows 72¨DPI whereas most photos have over a thousand. The easiest way to save a picture for the web is to send it to yourself with Office XP and save the attached file to your PC. Office XP asks wether you want to resample the picture. Say yes and you will have a photo good for the web. Do not however save it with a special program asking to reduce the quality as these programs do exactly that.
