Awoke last night at 4.30am to the sound of a cold chisel on my disc lock, by the time I got the front door unlocked they were gone (plus my neighbour heard them also and put his house lights on before I got outside which must of helped scare them off).

Two of them, one worked the locks - They didn't get to start on the chain that was around the rear wheel and swingarm the other very professionally/neatly hot wired the ignition... No slide hammers.

I heard a car head of at speed just as I got outside - so I reckon they we're going to ride it off rather than put in a Van (Which is what I caught 'them' doing with my GSXR). Seems to be habit around W4/Chiswick - Also attempted a mates Africa Twin when it was parked outside my house.

Kicking myself for not putting the cover on it - used to do it all the time, just got lazy. But who knows if that would have helped in this case?

BMW Assist picked it on the dot in the a.m. (full marks to them - very efficient with plenty of info and call-backs) and now it resides at BMW Battersea... not used them before so, this will be the litmus test for them.

Least they didn't get it... Busted steering lock, knackered ignition and a bent disc is hassle I could do without mind. Guess I have to worry about them returning now - as it looked like the singled the GS out - unlocked Varedero across the road, plus a Translap, Hornet and VFR all 15 secs away also.

Was going to have a ride out on the w/e as well. Feckin' scrotes.
:mcgun :mcgun :mcgun

Lock them and hide them folks.

Glad to hear they didn't get it away.

Surprised they went to the bother of hot-wiring but then probably it's the only option compared to trying to hoik one of these big mutha's into a van!

Here's hoping the scrotes catch some nasty terminal disease soon!

At least you have the bike. Do you have an alarm on it ? My SE came with a very loud bmw alarm... at least its another fence for them to get around.

Good advice on the alarm - I'd get the dealer to put one on sharpish.

The fence is a Touratech option for the SE only

The alarm is the thing that makes the noise if someone moves the bike :D

Glad we cleared that up :beerjug:

i just locked my bike up, ive lapsed after the last "attempted theft" post, glad they didnt get your bike and its back on the road soon :thumb

Thanks for the words folks...

No alarm, in two minds - had one on the GSXR, didn't stop them getting it halfway in the van, I think if they're determined they stop at nothing - plus I was always struggling with flat batteries - and as the bikes on the street getting an Optimate on it is nigh on impossible.

Think I might have just been given the OK by Mrs PCH to knock the front garden wall down a tad so I can get the bike in the front garden, it'll be a squeeze - but there's a ground anchor in there I fitted last year for the Gixer. (At which point getting an optimate on it won't be such a pain - so maybe an alarm is a viable option).

Hassle and Money... and now we have 1000 more scrotes running around thanks to Clarkie... nice going Minster.

Be lucky - hope your all spared the same experience.

Shame you and your neighbours didn't catch them. You could have made a few cuts, hung 'em by their wrists and let the foxes at 'em.

:D

Nice idea... we've got a lot of those around here too... bug urban ones with strong stomachs at that.

Should have let my 4 legged friend in the avatar to the left at them, she's good at biting villans... got three strikes on her collar already. :D :D
