Check outside for piles of sawdust.

Apparently there is a very active gang of dog thieves in the area, following up dog walkers on large public areas (specifically to my knowledge right now, the Abbey field and Castle park areas) and depositing piles of sawdust outside target houses.

Rosie's sister Margie has a gorgeous cocker spaniel, and this weekend, a pair of lovely English setters belonging to her son and daughter in law who are staying with them.......on her way to the newsagent this morning she was warned by four of her dog walking acquaintances about it.

When she got back to her house, she found a pile of sawdust between her bins outside

It's hit local facebook groups (apparently) and will probably (hopefully) be in the local rags over the next day or two, but if you have dogs in that area, just keep a sharper eye out than you may normally do :thumb2

....thinking outside of the box, you could:

Have everyone put piles of sawdust outside their house to confuse
Put sawdust out side the houses of local undesirables
Put sawdust outside your own house and wait with a big stick

Thanks for posting btw... got to be viggilant everywhere

Or just offer a sawdust blowing away service with your leaf blower ?

I don't understand the need for the sawdust.
It's a bit of a giveaway really.
Why don't they just text or email their pikey mates something along the lines of -
Greyhound, 23 Railway Cuttings ?

Thanks for this - my parents live in Colchester and have dogs. I've forwarded it on:thumby:

Out of interest - why would anyone steal a dog, or in this case a shed load of dogs?:nenau

Gun dogs (trained) are being stolen to order and domesticated dogs are stolen for use as "bait" in dog fighting. Any association with thieving gypsy b#stards is purely coincidental.
