So after thirty years of loyalty to the GS Adventure, ignoring the brief six month fling with an Africa Twin, I’ve emigrated to a DesertX.

I’ve bought a one owner ‘22 DesertX with 500miles from Ducati Bournemouth. The previous short lived owner added a lower seat, engine bars, barkbusters, touring windscreen, larger bash plate, tank bag, Evotech tail tidy, Evotech rad protection and a Garmin XT sat nav. It wants for nothing. I had two test rides and it just made me smile. Looking forward to enjoying the bike around the Surrey Hills and South Downs.

If you like it half as much as I like mine, you'll be a very happy man.

Just got back from a 1666 mile trip to France, bike performed seamlessly. So much fun.

Good to hear. Have you made many/any changes to the bike? had a few comments about using a side stand extender.

There was a recall to put a shorter side stand on, which yours should have been done. Mine came with engine bars. I've put Barkbusters on it and an Adventure Spec sidestand foot, a Perun Moto rear rack. My Mosko Moto Reckless 40s fit nicely. That's about it.

Oh, I've put on a Puig shorter screen to try and eliminate the buffeting but it hasn't solved the problem totally. I'm going to try the original screen and test ride without the mirrors on to see if that's causing the issue. I'll make decisions after that as to what to do.

Whilst the buffeting or wind noise is an issue, the bike overall is superb.

I had an hour on an inmate’s (from here) Desert X
It was a very nice bike and would be even nicer once the screen was sorted

Hoping the larger touring screen and the lower seat will make a noticeable difference.

You won’t be disappointed, a great all round bike.

Looks brilliant that, Ducati certainly have a success on their hands with this bike.

Nice Jeremy. I was at the crossroads of DesertX or GS and finally went GS all things considered. The DesertX is a great bike and I would have been delighted at being a Ducatista.
