Ok, looking for a recommended auto electrician or someone off here who knows their stuff. Want to hard wire my autocom and possibly add some auxillary lighting to the 1150GS. I'm in Rayleigh in Essex. Anyone out there?

That's All.

If your at all practical or can follow instructions you could do it yourself

Don't know a good one but.....

If you fancy the ride over http://www.cveglos.co.uk bring the Jaffa Cakes and we'll look after you while you wait.

Yes I can follow instructions, and yes I'm fairly practical, but also I like to have things done correctly, which is why I was asking for expert knowledge which quite possibly could do things better than I could.

That's All.

I did this very job the other day.

Remove the 4 phillips screws holding down the fuse box, whip it off... carefully (warm it up a little with a hair dryer if necersarry)...

Look in the fusebox and there is a green and blue wire. Thats your switched live. Use a scotchblock connector if you cant be arsed but i soldered and heat shrinked mine in.

Then connected the negative to a brown and white wire. (neg)

Sorted.

And save yourself a few pennies whilst learning more about your bike. :)

I live in Chelmsford and have Autocom and Aux lighting which my Pop and I fitted to my 1150. He's a retired engineer and good with anything electrical or mechanical. I'm sure we could help if you get stuck or fancy a bit of assistance/moral support.:thumb

Thanks for the PM's rob mac, and yes you're right they don't treat their customers that good. In fact they're so bad they'd like to be sh*t!

That's All.

Do let me know ...

... if you find someone useful ! Unlike the numpty who wired my lights/GPs to an auxiliary fuse box, that's permanently live !!!

lol oblertone ive done that in the past... learnt my lesson... leaving heated grips on by accident.. and on the fuel injected bikes your proper buggered.

Let us know how you get on suipe.. if you get stuck im sure someone on here is happy to help :)

Dont know what the going rate is for an auto sparky but its got to be around the 50 quid mark. 50 quid = 2 tanks of juice :D

Vilguy

ignore me... i got confuzzled with the autoswitch installation. Yeah use a black one. The brown and white is the indicator cancel signal line.

Be better not to bother with the negative in the fusebox though mate, just run it to the frame. Its a negative. Less wiring to go wrong in the future:thumb2

Im gonna hack my wiring this weekend i think to remove as much excess wire as possible.
