I bought an Active Plus Duo a few months back and had problems with the volume quality after fitting to my Schuberth S1. Judge helped me out a lot and eased my initial anger at not being to hear my iPod etc.

After lots of fiddling and extra purchases I think I'm all sorted:clap

Got the Autocom and GPS isolator in the rear tool box tray (1100GS) and taking power off the rear light. Now have the Garmin 2610, Midland G7, iPod, radio and Boostaroo (for iPod) all connected up. Just fitted my push to talk switch and cable tied everything up. Don't want to be able to use my phone, riding the bike is the only time I get to ignore it.

Very impressed with the kit and IMO better quality than Starcom, having looked at my mates. He agrees too.

My only real criticism is that the connectors have no covers and they are left open to the elements and road salt. The Starcom ones have covers included.

Had to call Autocom a fair bit to get advice and they've always been very helpful and quick to answer my questions:thumb

Looking forward to my trip to Spain and Portugal next month now:clap

So you'll be needing a couple of Autocom part 2425 socket holders, then. Wait a month or two and they should be in the dealers.

Boosteroo (for i Pod) What is that, and where if its any good can I get one, oh, and how much. I'm guessing but is it amplifier type thing for the i Pod? Will it only work with an iPod as I use my phone MP3 player on the bike, was wondering if it would also work with that (3.5mm Jack plug)

As John has said we have got our new socket holders due any second that come with socket covers, so all is good there. Im also glad that you are fully set up and sorted and the many phone calls to us have helped you along no end :)

It will amplify anything that uses 3.5 mm plug, saying that you can get convertors that convert 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm. I use it primarily for my iPod as the Euro capping of the volume means it is too weak even after using the volume hacks around. I think it is due to the Schuberth S1 and my combination of ear plugs.

I got mine via Amazon, £24 ish delivered, via a partner on there.

If you plug in an iPod to the Boostaroo you can run up to three feeds from it, each one amplified considerably.

There weren't that many maybe 6:augie

I must say though that the guides with the products could be more helpful. The PTT switch I got yesterday was extremely vague IMO, prompted a call to get it working properly.

GSRich,

What are these connector covers? I always thought that you said your connectors didn't require any covers etc?

Thanks

Ian

You could now, if you want, mount the connector vertically by using the cover.
They're not needed if mounted horizontally but they look 100% more professional in any case.

The MD of Autocom was moved to act when certain Tossers threatened to use past-use-by-date condoms to prevent water ingress. :D

TBH you probably don't need protector covers. Starcom have them but their connectors look like they are made from Kit Kat wrappers, so probably need them to prevent immediate corrosion:augie

Used one for years. Good piece of kit, but they get through batteries fairly quickly. I haven't looked for a while, but I did once find a 12v powered amplifier to hard wire in. Might be worth a look.

I'm a bit new here but I've got one of those active duo thingys and I'm having a s** (rough) of a time trying to get it to work. have sent autocom an email but they must be busy. can't take calls at work so rely on email. I think i am having trouble with the vox setting and know I am having trouble with volume on GPS and music. I have C2s, part 1299 and a Zumo 550. i am assuming that the volume is low because the Vox is triggering but without any help I am lost.

I had starcom which worked fine but my older fingers aren't able to deal with the pissy plugs particularly when cold but the setup seemed easier.

assuming that I have arsed up the set up, can someone out there help- it would make my biking a lot easier if I can speak reliably with SWMBO.

It appears that mic placing is CRUCIAL but beyond that..:rob:drool

Rich

a bit more info. I have a C2 and a System 5 for my own use. Yesterday I took the system 5 out and I got a much better result. If anything, the Vox is at too high a setting. Is it possible that the front vent on the C2 is causing me trouble event though it is closed? I fitted a 'sock' (open face kit) but to be honest it doesn't really help that much on the C2. I suppose the other thing to try is swapping the mikes between the helmets in case there is a fault?.
