Hi All,
Struggling to find the right description of this, but looking for some tips or advice if you have any.
This is the second time that an Autocom headset lead has cracked on the outside - it happened to the lead on my System 5 which I fitted myself, and to the lead on my System 6 which the dealer fitted.
The shape of the break is the same, and roughly the same place - just where the lead exits the helmet and appears to be as a result of it being flexed, perhaps when I put the helmet down or it might be from riding - I'm rather tall and the lead might be being pulled too much. I use a curly lead from the helmet to the bike.
So to clarify, there are smaller wires inside an outside sheath which goes from the plug up inside the helmet. The sheath has cracked just outside of where it goes in to the helmet.
What I have done in the past is to wrap electrical tape around it, but this doesn't flex too well either and it can get a bit sticky through reapplication.
Cheers
Alistair.
