Just bought Autocom system half price - great piece of kit. Love listening to my music when riding.
Only problem is that I'm not completely happy with the positioning of the microphone boom in my lid.
The Autocom fitting instructions say to fit the boom between the cheek pad and main helmet which I did but it left quite a length of the boom unsupported & prone to wiggling around. Just didn't feel quite solid enough for my liking.
This evening I have been trying to route the boom to come out THROUGH the cheek pad to make the whole thing more solid & a bit neater. By making a small nick in the cheek pad cover with a knife I have routed the boom up under the cover but it's still only wedged in at the bottom between the cheek pad & main shell which means there is still a bit of play.
Do you think I could tunnel the boom through the polystyrene of the cheek pad which would give it a really solid position, or is touching the polystyrene like this going to be really detrimental to the safety of the lid?
The helmet is getting on a bit so if I completely arse it up I won't feel too bad about having to buy a new one.
