I fitted my Autocom unit this morning, and have some basic questions:eek

1) I've got part 1285 (red box thing) plugged into Aux 1, then lead part 1294 from there into my Garmin lead. I've got lead part 1412 from Aux 4 into a Kenwood radio. I can hear the other radio, but if I talk the other radio can't hear me. We did try another configuration but I was then constantly transmitting. Any suggestions?

2) I'm struggling to get the headset wires tucked away in my helmet - any issues with me cutting them down a soldering them together again? I'm trying to fit them mostly in the collar bit round the sides and back; perhaps I need to put more in behind the cheek pads?

3) What's the grey Aux 5 lead for on the Autocom unit?

4) I connected the Autocom power lead to the power socket on the bike and covered with self amalgamating tape. I've never used it before - do you need to heat it to make it stick?

Thanks, Iain.

I advised Autocom of the equipment I have and asked for the correct leads. The Kenwood lead supplied has the twin pins at one end for the radio and a single pin at the other to plug in to the unit - nothing like the type required to fit the Aux 5 lead.

1, Kenwood talking to another Kenwood or different brand or model? Againg ideally the grey AUX5 would of been the better connection.

2, What helmet as this should not really be needed?

3, The is the MAIN bike to bike lead

4, Nope the tape sticks itself together.

Yes, Kenwood to Kenwood. The lead supplied is the one suggested by Autocom when I phoned.

The helmet is a Multitec. I tried the wires again last night and have done a better job this time so all should be ok.

Led on Kenwood lit and goes dull when I speak.

Green vox light on unit constantly green and brightens when I speak with Kenwood lead plugged into Aux 4.

I've still not got this one sorted.

I've recently bought a 2370 lead so I can use the grey Aux socket and I tried to set things up again tonight.

Still constantly transmitting to the other radio and receiving very faintly from the other unit.

The lead my mate has to use the Kenwoods with his Starcom system has a mono plug, but the one I have is stereo - could this be a reason for the problem?
