Hello all,
just been trying to fit my Autocom headset to my new Tour X.
Usual pain in the arse trying to align the speakers with my ears using the small star shaped bump in the centre of the speaker. Very hard to poke your finger in the side to check when wearing the helmet so I got 2 bits of Blu tac and rolled them into small balls. I then stuck them to the exact centre of the speakers and put the cheek piece covers back on and clipped them back into the helmet. Once you pop the helmet back on you can instantly feel whether the blu Tack lumps are sitting in your ears or not.
Wish I had thought of it years ago!
Although this does sound like one of the Top Tips you get in Viz.

cheers
Kev

Thanks for that, a great tip.

Spent ages getting mine lined up properly, made a world of difference once they were.

As well as alignment with your ear canal it also helps to bring the speakers as close as is comfortable. I made foam stacks (self adhesive Velcro on each side), much like the ones you can buy from Autocom. I used fairly dense foam (old body armour) that I cut with a very sharp knife to the correct thickness. The speakers now just 'kiss' my ears and work up to autobahan speeds :D

Another method is to dust your ears with talcum powder, carefully dom helmet and equally carefully remove same - there in the lining will be a whitish impression of your lugole from which you can pinpoint your ear canal

Worked for me

Thanks guys, just going through this process with new lid.

It would help if Helmet manufacturers had a clue where peoples ears are, my new lid has speaker cut-outs - which it turns out are about where my temples sit. My ears are where the helmet is narow and the chin strap attaches.
