hi all, i know this has been covered hundred of times, and i have done a few searches and i think i already know the answer:blast, i fitted me autocom today, sounds the mutts nuts!!:D, the lead that comes with kit(200duo kit), to plug into the side of the zumo cradle and then into the autocom when i connect this, when im talking its perfect, but when the systems laying idle, i get interference like a whistle type noise, when you disconnect the lead everythings perfect again!!

now the answer ive come to is the lead that comes with kit is not heavy enough ie none noise surpressive, in which case i nead a specific zumo to autocom surpressed lead or some sort of plug in noise surpressor?????

am i barking up the right tree?????

Yes, it sounds like you need a ground loop isolator, either Autocom's own isolated stereo music lead, Part No. 1314 at £28. Or you could try something like this at a little over £7, I know a few that have tried these and have had no problems.

Recently, I helped out one of our IAM group members who had a similar problem, but on the mic lead to the Zumo (one of the earlier Autocoms), he couldn't use his mobile because of it. He got one of these £7 isolators and problem solved.

Would one of those isolators remove the interferance I hear, if I try and charge my MP3 player, whilst it's playing music at the same time? TVMIA.

Wouldn't know for sure until you try it, but I think it might. It is caused when you have two bike powered devices connected together by the audio lead (and sometimes the Mic lead).

BTW when I installed my Autocom and Zumo I ran the live feed and negative for both from the Can bus GPS socket near the headstop and didn't experience the problem. I think this is because they are both grounded at the same point (i.e. the can bus negative at the socket). Also, rerunning the audio cable along a different route can sometimes clear the problem.

Before someone picks it up, in my previous post headstop should read headstock :blast

I really should read my messages back more thoroughly and stop typing them in a rush!
