re autocom

mines a gsa not 1150 no tool tray also no spare places for the fuses to be re-allocated so no place for pro7 in fuse box looks like its back to square one again

Yep

Having the exact same problem today and just about to ask myself. On my original GS (non adventure) I had the unit on the airbox, but this is where the Alarm is now for some weird reason.

I can see if you remove the tool bag from under the seat then, you can attached the unit to the back mudguard and leave the tool box somewhere else (like at home) Not sure if this is too exposed. Anyone care to comment?

I know that if you move some of the fuse box around, you can fit the unit in there, nice and water proof and all that then. But a pain to do.

Still not sure where I will end up putting it?????

ANYONE WITH AN ADVENTURE, ANYONE that has mounted it alternatively to the fuse box or replacement tool pouch space?

Cheers, Nick:beerjug:

you don't move the fuses, there's a spare compartment next to the cat code plug socket where it fits perfectly - Den has his autocom fitted there, and yeahbut had his in the same place on his ADV .

I swear to god Neil, the Pro 7 will not go in any of the unused slots as I did give a GOOD try. Lending all my weight to one of the slots.

I'm glad you said that! I was beginning to think it was just mine that's full of relays!

The only unused bit in mine is the small box in front of the fuses themselves and that's too small.

Going to put it in the same place as your gotter, did you put any padding / waterproofing around it?

N

Nope! It seems pretty well sealed from the elements in there.

Have a good squint around, there's nowhere really for water to get into that position. I had thought of fixing there so every time I was out in the rain, I checked that it was dry at the end of the journey.

I ran it with the PP3 battery for a while just to be sure. The only downside to that location is if you use the PP3 instead of hardwiring, you will find that the cold will sap the performance of the PP3. Mine is hardwired now and works fine.

By the way, I didn't know until after hardwiring that the Plugging in of the helmet jack-plug switches the Pro 7 on when using the PP3. Unfortunately this isn't the case once it's hardwired.

battery powered model must be bigger than the bike powered type --

sorry chaps - i'll shut up as i'm on dodgy ground and don't know what i'm talking about . i thought they were all the same size :D

at last

i started this discussion this morning and said the pro7 wouldnt go in the fuse box but there is some people who know different(i think not)looks like i will be putting it on the back mudguard thanks for the comments and help

Guys,

I've got an ADV with ABS. I've got autocom Pro 7 & Kenwood radio - both powered off the bike.

You can't fit it into the fuse box area. Like everyone else, I've tried too.

Take your seat off and you'll find if you wrap the autcom & radio in a bit of foam (I used some that a motherboard came in), that it fits under the back end of the tank on top of the box thing - sorry for the crap description.

Radio aerial tucks down the inside of the tank.

I haven't hard-wired mine in yet, I run the cable down to the socket by my left leg. I just unplug it when I stop.

Rode down to Morocco/Sahara - including laying the bike down for a rest  - with it like this with no problems at all.

Also means I can remove it easily should I want to.

Haven't got a digital camera, but it I get the chance to borrow one, I'll try & post a piccie.

HTH
