My trial licence for this runs out in three days. It seems to have been OK, but what's the advice - buy it or use something else?

Thanks

Malc

Free Version has kept my 'pooter safe for 7 years now:thumb2
and i have been known to visit some very dodgy:augie:rolleyes:sites:aidan

I have the "pay for" AVG AV and it has a number of features the free one doesnt. E.G. Resident Shield which actively checks all the files you open or run on your PC. You never know what "lurks" behind program .exe

I'd get rid of that dawn if I were you, she sounds like a real spoil sport :D

Me too.

Not very PC literate and fancied the ease of one suite with the various bits and bobs in - spyware, firewall, anti-spam, anti-virus etc. Very easy to use, doesn't slow the machine down like McAfee did and the customer service when you've got a question is 1st class.

I've tried both Norton and McAfee in recent years and AVG wipes the floor with them.

I agree 100% AVG Free Version does it all and get Zone Alarm, (free again), for a firewall. Spybot Search and Destroy will take care of spyware and you can also use Ad-aware alongside it. :thumb

Thanks very much one and all. :thumb2

I think I'll go for the free version plus the ZoneAlarm firewall.

Uninstall AVG in ad and remove programs..re-boot. Go to "Download.com" and get AVG again for free. Install and update then re-boot again.
Its up to you if you install "zonealarm",the free one can reck your PC with a corrupt update (only on the free version). Go to "download.com" and search for another free firewall.."Ashampoo 1.2 or Agnitium Outpost" are ok.
DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING ON THE "VISTA OS" THAT IS NOT "VISTA" COMPATABLE. Hope this helps.
