Can anyone tell me the sizes of the front and rear axel nuts on a XChal? Could do with knowing but not near my bike at the mo. thanks

26mm IIRC

definitely 26mm

I have most of a 26mm spanner velcroed to the subframe under my seat. I cut off the open end of a combination spanner, grinding the end to the shape of a tyre lever.

26 ???
Man, I travelled 3000 km with my F650 / F800 tool kit which has a 24 socket for the back wheel. I would have looked like an idiot if I would have had a flat tire...

and what is the size of the front one?

Thanks Micky. :thumb
considering my X is 7.000 km away, can you tell me if it is the same 26 back and Front? Also I noticed that on Xc there are no Torx bolts isn't it? they are all Allen hex wrenches?

On my 2007 G650XC the front and rear axle nuts are both 26mm :thumb

Some folk modify by fitting a machined down 24mm from a KTM but I just went out and bought a 26mm socket .... not a common size and not often found in a socket set

Yes ... all Allen bolts but they could have been changed by a previous owner so you'll need to look ;)

KTM are 27mm and fit fine, plus are 'closed' so no muck goes down the spindle & threads, however you have to machine the KTM nut for the front, because the KTM nut has a lip

KTM ones are 10 grammes lighter too:rolleyes::D

I wanted to buy a 26m socket 3/8 drive but no one seems to make one unless you know any different?

Don't think my rear wheel has been of since 2009!

Bloody thing was stuck solid I had to hammer it all the way and in the process knackered the end of the axle - I might just be able to save it ( or rather I'm hoping an engineer can)

It was rust in the axle spacer tube that caused it.

Also the alloy spacers on each side look very chewd up ( as though they at some stage been spinning and wearing away)
