Have ordered a new ADV from Mark at bvm...........so far all is going v smoothly....he gave me a very fair offer on my 1100GS and whilst not giving anything away on the new bike, if it all comes through I think it should be a good deal all round...........
Will report back after I collect the new bike.......

Do you work that way Christian as there a few closer dealers than BVM (You are in London according to Avatar?)

Welcome to the ADV land, when you collecting it?

N:D

No I work in London but I 've got a small cottage in the middle of nowhere down there near Cirencester. bvm have a really good reputation on this site and so far the servicing they've done for me has been excellent. I would rather deal with a smallish outfit who appear to want my business, than with a big London dealership ...... also I would rather pay less in labour charges.....
Andy Melton and co are big champions of bvm.......all their comments lead me in bvm's direction

Good decision Christian,

I got my GSA from BVM a few months ago and can highly recommend them.

As soon as the 2 wheel drive 1200GSA come out later this year I’ll be back to Mark again :D :D

Hi Bob,Yes I seem to remember it has some pannier rails on it that came from me..!
Do the rails screw straight on to the adv? I want to fit mine with ordinary black plastic panniers.....don't want anything silver on it at all!
From what I can make out you love your new bike............
Did you get a discount on clothing? If so any strong recommendations.....have you got a rallye2 jkt and if so any good?

Your 1100GS panniers will fit the GSA and so will rails........all you need to do is get BVM to re-code the locks to the GSA ignition key

Christian

As JohnnyBoxer says the pannier rails screw straight on - BVM fitted them for me at the 600 mile service (no charge - coded the pannier locks at the same time - no charge).

I love the GSA, as long as your careful about choosing which tracks to ride (see "how to get a GSA really stuck") it' s very capable off road and a great road bike.

I think BVM gave my wife about 10% off (she bought it all for me as a Xmas pressie) - I had a Savanna 2 suit (jacket, trousers and liners), a pair of Savanna boot, GS Gloves and a Tour X helmet (all my kit was either destroyed or cut off me in my accident).

I find the Savanna kit excellent, totally waterproof, comfortable and with enough armour to keep my wife happy. It's heavy but I'm big enough not to notice it when its on.

Now thinking about getting a Schuberth C2 helmet as well (my Schuberth Concept saved my life in my accident) as I have trouble with the double D ring fastening of the Tour X as - my left arm won't bend properly nowdays.

BOB,10% sounds mean.........and likely! "BMW" and "discount" ........ they don't sound right together somehow!
Anyhow thanks for the words on the Savannah kit.........CBI has got one (jacket) for sale in (hopefully) my size so I've made him an offer......we'll see if he wants to sell ......
I'm relieved the panniers are a straight changeover........nothing much else seems to be compatible......and its an expensive business
I reckon my bike will be very similar to yours except with black seat.....
Glad to hear you like it so much
Cheers

I just bought a Rallye 2 jacket at Prestige and they gave me a 15% discount on it. Had to order the trousers in from BMW Germany to fit my , er, substantial frame, so he could only give me 10% off those. Overall it still means £84 in my kitty.

who ate all the pies? who ate all the pies?????

Picked up new ADV today from bvm.......very happy with it so far having ridden it up the M4 to London albeit at a relatively sedate running in pace (not over 70) ........ the tall Aeroflow screen makes SUCH a difference from what i had got used to with the 1100......no buffetting at last!
bvm prepared the bike really well and apart from engine bars which will have to wait for the 1st service to be fitted, everything else is absolutely hunky-dory........
They confirm by the way (re another thread) that the first service is totally foc

And yes of course it is black......

Hey Christian,

was that you who came by me on the M4 near heathrow at about 2300 with the white open face helmet. I was driving a Tesco lorry. You had a bit of a close shave with a car on an over take :( .
Bike looked nice by the way, oil cap is on its way.

Regards Paul

Hey Christian..........some FF75's would look nice on the new bike! :D :D :D

BTBR

Paul......well spotted! I had two narrow escapes on my first trip on the bike...
the first on a country lane in Glos 100 yds from my house........
the second you saw from your truck.....nice to know I would have had a witness....

BTBR

I'm sure they would look good....what are they....?

Sorry mate I got you confused with someone else!

I meant to say wot you need is some H1 50% brighter bulbs, given the fact the hassle you had last time for the 1100?

Not my fault I hasten to add to others. 14 days delivery by Royal Mail and that was first class recorded delivery as well

BTBR

FF75's are lights BTW
