Bilsdale - spoilt!

Applying a lower speed limit and painting solid white lines will have absolutely no effect, other than to irritate the sensible users of this road.

The power-ranger sportsbike nutters pay no attention to posted speed limits or road markings anyway, , so any changes will not affect the intended 'target' group, only inconvenience the majority of us 'normal' blokes

Yet another example of a few idiots spoiling it for the rest of us. Cheers fellahs

Did the Stokesley route from Helmsley earlier this summer. Agree it is a great road, but you do have to respect it.

On the route I did, I went towards Guisborough the Whitby then down towards Scarborough.

The clever bit though is turning right off the A171 towards Harewood Dale, then going through Silpho, Hackness and ending up at Bickley.

From there you can pick up the Dalby Forset drive and come out just outside Thornton Le Dale on the A170.

Ace ride through the forset, really easy/light off-roading, sure it is slow but it keeps the Power Rangers out!

here's the news program. The item on Helmsley starts about two and a half minutes in. It's worth watching for the MAG interview alone. Says the people speeding aren't bikers, but goes along with the council and BAND thereby F@cking the rest of us, nice

I understand the accident was caused by the driver ( an American tourist )of the car turning from a minor road across the path of the motorcyclist .

Very sad

The news clip from one of the previous posts is very interesting . Whilst the reporter focuses on the speed of themotorcyclist, just watch for the oncoming car driver having a death wish overtaking a slower lorry . The reporter does not comment on this !!!!

I expect more accidents with this new layout due to the impatience of both car & bike ridders following slower vehicles , particular tractors .

Hi Nikko.

Dalby Forest Drive is completely legal, some of the roads are metalled and others covered with a loose shale sort of surface. I managed to get hopelessly lost on the tracks and ended up on some marked "permit holders only" but had no one shouting at me, even though there were some forrest ranger types who saw me.

There is however a charge, I think it was £3 for the bike for a day, or you can get an annual season ticket which I think was around £10. However the season ticket year runs April - April and costs the same whether you join with one week to go or 52.

It is a leisure facility in the widest sense so there are walkers and cyclists about, but it seemed to me that everyone seemed to be happy enough with everyone elses activities but worth bearing in mind it is not a set of tracks to go tear-arsing about on...
