I've recently bought one of these and am trialling it:

http://back2you.com/store/product_info.cfm?product_id=75

It is a self contained waterprrof GPS tracker small enough to fit under a bike seat and the rechargable battery is said to last 60 days. It has a sim card from GifGaf which costs £5 per month. There are no other on going costs.

You ring the number and the box send you a text back with a VERY accurate co-ordinate location (to within 8' as far as I can tell) and if the thing is moving. You can also programme it to send a text if it moves or if it goes out of a set embargo square.

An advantage for me is that it can be swapped from bike to motorhome to car etc

I have no connection with the company, but so far it seems a good way to relieve anxiety. I'll be interested to see if it works in Europe.

cheers y'all

p.s. it's back2you.com not .co.uk - that gets you some wierd site.

How's it going Bladerunner?

I've been considering one of these too. The question I would most appreciate being answered is that of battery life. Will it really hold up for 60 days?

Please let us know in due course.

I'd spotted that!:eyebrow

They look identical, but I don't think it says anything about including a SIM card does it?

So far it does what it says on the tin.

The gifgaf sim card is £5 per month - not too bad. There are no ongoing costs from Back2you. It has been in the van isolated (off the charger) for 10 days now and it says it is down to 88% battery, so 60 days may be reasonable. It will text you as the battery gets too low.

I shall test whether the sim works in Europe in a couple of weeks.
