Bad Earth

I seem to have a bad earth which causes the charge warning and netural light to dim together or not work at all to make it worse its intermittent
tho still charging the battery

anyone else had this

its a 2002 1150GS since I posted this its been fine !

Found the problem poor design at its best

The warning light loom tie straped and running forward to the warning light cluster has mulitpul joints inside the sleeving just below the cluster, 5 green / brown wires joined in pairs then connect to one are crimped together and sleeved in heat shrink ingress of water has caused the joints to fail

at the same point in the loom there is a bunch of grey wires and 2 bunches of brown wires all done in the same way

quality heatshrink is linned with sealer so when heated it reduces in size the sealer melts and seals the joint against the ingress of water

yep, fairly common. Do a search and see how many have had the same trouble. Glad you found it.
