Iv'e done a search and seem to find people commenting on a particular gear .
My bike is a 05 1150 ADV with 18500 miles on the clock , it's just been serviced and has started to vibrate baddly in every gear under acceleration . The engine feels and sounds different to normal and has vibration mainly through the foot pegs and handle bars .
If i throttle of and cruise it goes , at say 110 mph today i throttled of and pulled in the clutch ,the bike was very smooth and stable so thought it would be engine related .
I used up all the fuel and refilled incase i had dirty/bad fuel but no differance .
Checked tyres and there fine .
I need rear pads in 500 to 1000 miles time .
All leads have been checked .
Diff bearing was adjusted and fine ( the one between diff and shaft ) .
Is it possable for the coil to go at this age , it sometimes felt as if it was missing or struggling for fuel , very lumpy and rough .
Iv'e dropped it back at the dealers and they've said they'll sort it out straight the way :bounce1

Whats your diognosis then :nenau

Incase they need help .................. :augie

Have they put the bungs back over the vacuum inlet thingys after balancing the throttle bodies? Leaving the bungs off sucks too much air into the fuel/air mix and may overwhelm the management system.

Could be something like that, on account of it running rough straight after a service.

:nenau ;)

Right oh , thats no1 on the list :thumb

Ooo, Just thought, did they adjust your valve clearances? Although to be honest, I reckon it would have resulted in a rattly death to the engine a lot sooner.

Blimmy James, is this what I have to look forward to after my service :(

I'm fast approaching the 12k one:(

Sure they will be able to sort it though and make sure if it's their fault they don't try and fob you off and get you to pay for it:mad:

Jon :beerjug:

Sounds like a standard quality BMW service issue  They have probably just screwed the throttle sync up, however, I had similar symptons last year when my ignition coil failed, it could be that its been disturbed during the service and has failed. The secondary coil runs slightly retarded from the main making it run rough with a failed main coil pack.

That was a pretty comprehensive plumbing course you did young fellow me lad...Are the no end to your new found talents?

They said no fault found and the bike is fine

Going to pick it up in the morning , or is that today

Let you know after iv'e played out on it :bounce1

Try to avoid constantly riding over the catseyes in the middle of the road and you`ll find the ride quality vastly improved ... the 'vibration' having mysteriously disappeared ...  :augie

Sounds to me like ...

Arse Kick time! Your service agent must have done something wrong for it to be Magicaly fixed after they checked it and said "nothing was wrong"? They possibley found the Workshop 10mm they have been looking for, in your engine? (Joking by the way. I hope).
Another reason why I do all my own work. BIGJim Tasmania.

Unfortunatly the vibration came back yesterday after it was restarted :o

Getting new tyres tomorrow and need some rear pads .... see if it makes a differance ........ :)

Lets see what happens ........... :nenau
