I have just fitted the Baehr heated seat to my 1200. It,s a lovely seat and at £300 pretty reasonably priced compared to other brands.
I am curious to how the 1200GS battery and alternator will cope with the additional power draw required by the seat. Has anyone had theirs for a while and does the electrical system cope OK?
Here are some pictures of the seat fitted

Don't know about the battery issue but they are nice looking seats.:clap

Just bought a "kahedo" type that tt supply to try next, that also looks good. Will try the comfort side of things tomorrow.

Do you store your bike in the hallway

:D

Thats not my hallway; thats my garage: give a builder (me) some plaster/skirting boards/ paint ect and that's what happens  :D

I've run Baehr heated seats on my 12 since june and not had any issues with the battery etc. As a matter of course I connect an optimate up when the bike is not in use for a few days.

Just looked at the baehr site and it says you have to provide your original seats as donor seats which is why the price seems reasonable.

Still might be one for the future!!:D

Baehr use the origional seat bases but add some higher density foam. The seat feels slightly firmer and more supportive, there is a small "bolster" at the back of riders seat which helps as well. A definite improvement over long distance.

The heated bit also works well, I've been on some fairly cold runs round the highlands this winter and the heat seeps up though your bum into your core.

If you fancy a weekend round at mine, your welcome anytime ;)

How does that translate in terms of extra time in the saddle before numb bum sets when compared to the standard seat?

Its hard to put an precise time on that but I would think an extra couple of hours for me.

... the heat seeps up though your bum into your core...

Jacques Charles (1746-1823) experimented with gas under constant pressure. In today's language, his discovery is that the volume of a gas is proportional to the temperature in K (kelvin).
V = kc T,

... Does it make you fart?

... Which, with the assistance of small wind-turbine, you could return to electrical energy by means of a simple dynamo ... charging returned to near adequate :thumb

... If you propose to use your heated grips and extra lighting at the same time as the seat, you might consider introducing more sprouts, sweetcorn and jerusalem artichokes to your diet :nenau

i fitted a baehr seat to my gs in july and have covered 2-3000 miles since.got to say its a huge improvement over the origonal seat and 3-400 miles in a day is absolutely no problem. my one is the unheated version and it cost about £175-£200,cant remember exactly but it has definately repaid its self over again.
