If anyones interested Bagster have brought out a tank cover for the R12 as from this month, it comes colour coded to suit the BMW paint scheme on the bike and is due into the UK end of October.

It can be ordered direct from Baglux here:

Baglux UK, Bagster Towers, Bridge Street,
Abergele, North Wales. LL22 7HA
Tel: 01745 823333
Fax: 01745 827444

Hi WelshMagician,

I had mine delivered in August and it's a superb match.

Ask Snave1 to post the image that I sent to him if you want to see what it looks like in yellow.

I got mine no probs in red from baglux uk...great fit, looks good and does the job..they have them in stock...

I ordered mine a while ago in France and got it in a few days...
But I did not find any Baglux / Bagster bags that would fit nicely my 12GS tank...
Any luck on your side ?

Why bother?

The OE red (best)/yellow/blue plasticky tank cover seems to have an air gap around the tank, so I don't understand why anyone wants to add an overcoat - because it seems fuel evaporation has been largely negated by the OE design.

This is not a criticism of any particular aftermarket design, I'm just genuinely interested to know why any additional tank cover is necessary.

My friend has no tank covers on his red 12GS. After 6 months, his panels are badly scratched.

wondering

have you fitted them and what they are like to fit....................like the look though !
Cheers

Yes the black one is my bike. They fit well and unlike previous models fit under the side panels and screw down using the existing screws located under the side panels. Three straps on either side and an headstock strap. Had to fit mine as the oem 1200GS bag doesn't fit now I have fitted Nippy's bar backs. Tank bag occasionally beeps the horn when on full left lock, bit suprising cos after 3 GS's I can never remember where the horn button is

Hi Chaps,

the yellow two tone photo is my bike and I'm very pleased with the result.

Very easy to fit.

Nice bit of kit.
