Hi

Has anyone fitted one of these? Got mine over the weekend, great colour match, but I'm unsure as to what bits you are supposed to strap the straps too.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Dave

The two rear straps bind to the frame under the two small side panels, the two front bindings bind to the side bars of the black tubular headstock and the main front binding goes around the entire black tubular headstock.

If you want a few pics of not brillian quality to give you an idea let me know and i'll email them to you.

Tank Covers

Whats the main purpose of the tank cover? Does it not let water in between the cover and tank and encourage corrosion?

Corrosion not an issue on a 1200 tank

The tank is Plastic so corrosion not an issue. The main reason is to fit a TAnk bag to or a Map holder but in addition it keeps the tank from being scratched.

I was going to fit a Baglux cover, as I did on my last bike, but the straps look quite messy on this application, particularly the lower one. Bit disappointed:(

would it not be just as cheap to just repaint the plastic panels before you sell. I've found that small stones get behind covers a damage the paint.

I think they look good. My Blackbird's tank looked like sh1t when I sold it. With the cover on the GS I don't worry about damaging the thing. I reckon they really suit this type of machine

Thank you Welshmagician for the offer of pics. I'll have another go over the weekend and if all fails I'll take you up on your offer.
I am fortunate enough to still have my Blackbird which has a black baglux tank cover which fits superbly and looks the muts nuts. Easy to fit on a BB due to the hgh heat which comes off the engine, this helps the cover to mould and fit to the tank. Not so sure that the GS will be as good

Ten minutes in the oven on about 150c should equate to ten minutes above the BB's sizeable and rather warm engine, then avail yourself of a female companions hairdryer to keep it pliable whilst fitting, my tank cover fits pretty snuggly.

To answer an earlier question i find a tank cover saves scratches from the zip on my leathers or belstaff and is ideal for mounting a map pocket or the matching athena bag i use, also purchased from Baglux. As previously pointed out corrosion isnt an issue on the BM tank and a tank cover also preserves the brightness of the paint finish and aids p/x or sale at a later date.

AndyT;)

Hi Andy, the seat is a Corbin comfort seat, it was ordered from the USA via Battastinis in Bournemouth, the lady to speak to is Karen but make sure you're sitting down when she tells you the price.

On the two front side tags, make sure you remove the two screws connecting the bike panels together and fit them back again though the two pre punched holes in the tags.

The fit of mine is excellent - much better than it was on the Pan I previously had. Use the map cover attachment which is OK but not brill. Quality is French rather than Jap or German ie Citroen not Merc.
