how long does it take to fit or remove a baglux tank cover?

do you have to remove the tank?

ta.

much as i don't like the idea of a tank cosy, after trying other methods of protecting the paint from TT VP45 side bags, i'm nearly ready to admit defeat :(

Quick tip: try to fit it on a sunny day (hey, it could happen), as the "leather" (or whatever it's made from) is much easier to work with. It'll stretch to fit much more easily, and is much more supple in direct sunlight, as it warms up. I've got one, and it saves a lot of scratches and stuff. But the propellors never line up with the little windows in the tank cover. Oh, and try not to pull it too far forward, make sure it's a good fit around the tank filler cap, as if it's too far forward, the filler cap won't stay open properly, and can even get pushed crooked by the edge of the cover, making it very hard to close the cap again.

Yeah this was the same with mine as well - but I found that if you leave a bit of play in all the fastening straps and don't tighten everything down too much, it will fit natural-like with the propellers and filler cap in the right place. No problem with slippage of bag or anything yet...

Cookie - I reckon they look good on a GS, the baglux's - although my old man is always telling me mine looks a bit :ymca!! The tankbag and the way it attaches is a winner though...

Baglux Animal bag

Has anyone used one of Bagster's Animal tank bag's. Looking for an easy way to transport a Jack Russell... :monkeypiz

alternatively, put the cover in the airing cupboard for a few minutes before fitting

It says this in the fitting instructions, but in case you over look it: clean the tank and then give it two good coats of a good polish.

Having fitted these covers to several bikes, I can tell you that the tank will stay in really good nick for when/if you remove it.

Tank stays on as stated above, but the seat and the side panelsbelow the tank may need to be popped off to facilitate fitting.

I recently bought one for the GS: windows lined up ok, but the petrol cap is a little off-set: no big deal. Lots of straps and no instructions, so take the time to bind and route the straps properly, so that they don't touch hot surfaces or pinch wiring etc. Sounds a lot worse than it is: makes more sense when you look at it face to face.

Got mine all nice and snug, made some notes then got the Mrs to sew some velcro to the ends so it all looks nice and tidy with no loose ends flapping around :thumb

What model tank bags are you all using with your baglux harness???

Cheers Cookie,

I used to use an Alpha but it fell apart after about 2 years use and the map window was very small. I like the look of the new Omega but I don't know how well it will fit a GS tank.

I use the Shibuya bag. It is on the small side but I only use it for smaller items anyway.

Well made and very useful.
