Just wondered if many of you use the baglux system.
On a lot of the pictures & for sale I notice a lot of other type of bags touratech bmw one etc .
I bought my bike & a black baglux harness was thrown in .I now need a black bag probably Alpha as all the touring I did on my vfr I used baglux which worked great Is there a reason it's not popular on the GS or have I just missed pictures with Baglux on them ?

Ya thanks for that I wonder if a small one may help keep the weight down but having lost half a left pannier I wonder how much less I can take .
The baglux Alpha bag is always crammed full with cameras ie video my still the wifes still cameras .travel documents flask grub coke for me orange for her :) Guess we will have to go water for both .

Thanks any body else how about a nice black 1150 with baglux picture.

poor fitting baglux bag.

(1200GS).
i had a baglux harness fitted to prevent (cosmetic) damage to the tank area - good (easy) fit.

i bought a baglux bag recently - it's pants! it's a real chore to fit it to the harness - it's like its too small or something !
i can fit the top easily (the open / close little plastic bits), but to get the (metal) clips to shut is a right bastar*! you would have thought the whole point of buying a tankbag that fits to it's own purpose made "harness" would fit like a glove....

it's rubbish!

I've used Baglux on various bikes since I bought my first harness and bag in 1989. I always found them to be well made, fit well and the bag doesn't slide around as some do. The bag I currently use I've had since 2001 and have harnesses on my GS, which I tend to leave on, and my Daytona which I remove when it's not needed. I think the bag is an Alpha, it doesen't get in the way and I can see my sat nav, which is mounted on the handlabar brace, even with the bag fully expanded.

Here's a pic.

Thanks for that Dellis same bike as mine in black so should be ok then I'll try & pic up a black alpha bag got a red one at the moment.

I too made the mistake of buying a red bag when I had a red VFR in 1994!

I've used a black Alpha bag on three bikes since 1996. Only 1 of the bikes was actually black.

The Alpha is fine on my 1150GS - black looks okay on a yellow bike and the adjustable straps on the Alpha mean you can get a good fit.

The only drawback: on the GS the bag sits too far back so that the map pocket is not visible without taking your eyes completely off the road. On the other hand, being close to the rider's body makes it a nice cushion if you want to redistribute some weight to give your backisde a rest on a long journey.

Steve, you need to persevere with the tankbag mate, the one on my R1200GS was too tight initially but as the vinyl has softened with daily use the bag now fits easily yet securely. I usually put the two plastic D rings on the bag into the plastic tank cover closers first, then pull down the bag lower edge and insert the metal retaining clips with just a little force to stretch them into place and once fitted they stay securely fastened.

don't worry ! i will persevere! (it just seems really, really hard to fit at the moment - i as hoping it would get easier with time)

OK soon as I've sold my red one I'll try & pick up a nice black one .

cheers & Happy New Year
