Going along with geronimo (my eleven) when suddenly there was a cloud of smoke coming from the front of the petrol tank.
"What the f...k!!". Inmediate reaction: slow down using the brakes. What brakes? If the grip had not stoped the lever, it would have ended going all the way round. No brakes. Nada, niente, finito.
Using all my experience, superb self-control, outstanding reflexes (and the curb) I managed to stop. A quick inspection revealed that the hose connecting the master cilynder to the junction underneath the tank had a tear where it join the banjo and the whole container had droped into the exhaust.
Back home using the back pedal and the engine to stop revealed that the hose is actually just long enough when the bars are at full left lock, pulling the hose from the banjo.
I have Touratech bar risers for a long time and never had a problem but definitly is the reason for the catastrophe. Replacing the splitted hose won't help so it seems that a special lenght will have to be made.
Which is good because I've been thinking of installing braided thingys anyway.

So, if you have bar risers, do yourself a favor and check if the hose is long enough.

After all, not everybody is as skilled (and damm lucky as I'am)

So, is the bloody train for me for the next few days. BUgger !!

Exactly my experience. I bought the Touratech risers for my 1150GS from Bracken and found that there was insufficient salck in the brake hose. A call to Bracken elicited the 'there's plenty of slack' response so I toddled over to them with the risers in my pocket. I fitted them on site and showed the result to the much missed John Hill. I short frown later he dissapeared into a cupboard and re-appeared with a single Touratech braided hose to replace the short OE hose. Plenty of slack and no more binidng.

Thanks John - RIP

Richard
