I posted here last April about fixing on the bash plate of a 2006 GSA. Here was the problem and maybe ongoing. I changed the oil and filter, everything was hunky-dory apart from the torque I applied to the nuts connected to the rubber mounts with bolts inside anyway they buckled, bent, twisted or squashed whilst I was happily using my torque wrench against copper grease.
Since April I've left things as, simply because the oil was fresh and the bash plate was held in place, but now I have new rubber mounts and don't know how to remove the old. I've tried mole grips but the rubber slips and I'm afraid to tackle the bolt with them incase the bolt rounds, please any suggestions.

you will find the rubber is fixed to a steel plate that holds the thread some are hex and you can , at a pinch get a spanner on them .

if its round then its back to that old favorite the vice grip on to the plate. they generally are not seized in just tight , so once you have it moving you will be fine:thumb2

If the rubbers had sheared you would be at that stage anyway mate

To be fair you will most likely find the original ones will still last for a good while anyway:)

My dealer had a similar problem at my last service. The mountings sheared but they upgraded the front mounting to the latest type. No more shearing problems.

Might be worth looking at instead of replacing the existing ones with the same type.

thats true the newer sumpguards use a solid mount on the front , methinks the more hardcore among us were ripping them off:D

Andrie if its your front rubbers undo the single bolt that holds the wee frame they are mounted on, but im betting its the rears you have issues with.
