Hi, I have a bid on e-bay for a GIT bash plate, does anyone have one of these and if so, what engine bars have you got? Cheers, Neil

Hi
I used to have one (broke 2 bashplates and 2 brackets without going offroad) and used the adv spec bars with it (Good quality bars dropped the bike a few times and only chipped the powdercoat)

Now i have a twalcom bashplate with the adv spec bars

You need to get creative with a hacksaw and cut clearances in the side plates to go around the bar on the rightside and clearance for a mounting bolt on the left side i'll post pics later

BMW here also, with the TouraT tool box, (powdercoated black) with Givi bars that work (5 times  :blast well the 4th and 5th was part of the 3rd drop all on the same side :blast)

Bit of a hijack

Do i see a DeCAT pipe? If so how noticeable is the performance increase?

Yes you see Remus polished decat (from the red banner above NN)

As a heads up I must point out here that as we are talking about bash plates,,, the remus sits lower so the BMW bash plate that I have has been modified to accept the remus pipes.
I think there is an increase but im used to it now and have not measured the before and after its just how it is i just realise the overall when I get a standard loan bike. the sound track noise though :D:D:D :D it sings nicely with the acrapovic (Barks at roaring Tigers:blast) , rorty,Rort, roar, growl, rumble rumble, pop, pop : interferes with the sub woofers of the lemmings that one filters past and goes down the wires of the Ipod wearing drivers in there world of oblivious to others :thumb

In my bike rebuild after the trip to Siberia last summer, I spent much of yesterday prior to the clean down stripping non-essentials off. Any extras perceived as adding benefits prior to the trip are now piled up in the corner of the garage.

First to go, if I'd ever taken the headstaggers to buy one, would be that TT tool box. That has to be the greatest design faux-pas I've ever witnessed. I met 2 800's on the trip and they both had tool boxes full of rusted tools and said they were a curse both in weight and design. However, for European touring it hardly matters I guess.

Re engine bars, the adv-spec bars did more damage to my bike than had I not had them at all. In addition, they add far too much weight. What I'd like to do if I was to add any protection is figure out a way to add frame sliders, but that's another day.

So of all the bling people are incessant on throwing at their bikes in the 800 section, a good bash plate, hand-guards, modified exhaust and suspension are the only things I'd want on my bike...oh and a small tank bag and Giant Loop coyote bag.

its all right for you incognito wearing your white earphones :blast

Hey leave us blingers alone :nenau its protectant and insurance and i like the look, heavy duty, rugged tank like, armour car like, (german Puma like)

What about a decent screen :nenau perspex light guard :nenau

What is it about weight with you remote distant riders, (no dont I do get it realy, honest)

but what happens in the scenario of two identical bike each with one solo rider both of equal riding ability but one rider is packing a 9 stone weight advantage :nenau foes the heavy guy miss ourt somewhere on the trip :nenau

First dibbs on your pile of bling in the corner of your garage litle tims rules :D :thumb :D

why couldnt the F8 riders unclip the tool box if they wanted to roll over some pebbles, wouldnt you count yourselves fortunate if you did not have to use tools :nenau where do you carry your tools or do you use a support vehicle. :nenau

:rob but i agree in europe as most do its different a lot of us have way to many comitments, wifes, kids, business blah blah, but europe and sam manicom books with the odd ABR son becoming Bi monthly :D are OK

I got to go wifes doing the sunday lunch and me bling needs a polish :D

Colour?

Totally subjective question:
What colour for the adventure spec bash plate do people think would look best on a silver f800GS? The black, or silver?
PS- Does anyone have one to sell me?
