While replacing the BWM crashbars with something more substantial (thank you Mr Caveman) I found that 3 out of 4 of the rubber mounting points for the bash plate had failed. Indeed, 'twas only the bars holding it on, hence it's now sitting on my bench. Can anyone tell me how these are replaced ?

Same here. Had to buy new ones from BMW. Not expensive, a couple of pounds each for the bolt with the rubber mounts and washers. Make sure you get the correct sizes as the fronts are longer than the rears. They are held in with some sort of locktight/studlock so you might need a couple of nuts placed together or a stud extractor to remove them. If you never use the bike off road you could always do without the sump guard. I kept the smaller inner guard on just in case :)

Screw fit ?

Thanks John, I've ordered new one's (Motorworks), and your response indicates that they screw in, I suppose the new ones will give me a clue however, the thread has parted from the rubber section on two of mine so I'm going to have fun removing the stubs !

Yes they screw in Paul. tbo mines came out quite easily. The reason they are designed like this is so they break off rather than damage the engine case, so I guess they have done the job ;)

Sorry, I havn't checked the profile but if this is for an 1150 be aware that there are different lengths of rubber bush studs meant to be used when you fit engine bars (the studded section is longer) - I had to order mine from a dealer and they cost me a fortune (about £20 for the four I recall)

The longer ones: Part nos Front 607 653 739 rear 607 653 738 you need two of each. (these are different to the original ones Front 47 mm thread 11 11 1 343 054, rear 40 mm thread 11 11 1 340 864)
