Hi, I have read somewhere that there is a problem using an Optimate charger with some BMW in my case the GS1200. Is this true or can I use it without the need for being done up the jacksy for an expensive BMW charger!?
Help please.

I use an Optimate on my GS1200 attached straight to the battery via the Optimate fly lead. Never had any issues and always done what it says in the tin.

I've removed the onboard DIN socket and replaced it with a non-CanBus DIN socket wired directly to the battery with a water resistant Mini 10amp Spade fuse.
On the optimate I've chopped the crocodile connectors and replaced with with a DIN male. This way I can charge the bike without removing the seat via the onboard socket.
It also means I have none-CanBus power available to me should I need it.

The optimate comes with a socket you can permanently connect to the battery terminals and cable-tie to a convenient frame point , or tuck under the seat out of the way. No seat removal needed.

.... easy to fit, convenient, and leaves your canbus accessory socket free for other things.
