Can any one suggest a good inexpensive battery charger for my 2010 GS.

I have heard that gel batteries take a different charger than liquid.

Thanks for any help

CTEK XS800 as recommended by the makers of the Hawker Odyssey.

Halfords stock them at £37 but it's cheaper from http://www.ctekchargers.co.uk/ctek-xs800.php.

Comes with a 5 year guarantee & a fly lead to connect directly to a battery so no CANBUS hassles.

If it is just for the motorcycle I'd recommend the new version of the CTek XS800, it is named XS 0.8.

I can also recommend the Oxford Maximiser 360T.

Been using one for a couple of years. keeps the battery's on my GSA and S1RR in tip top shape. but you can only plug-in one bike a time.

Just bought one from the CTEK website for £27 plus £3 postage. Used on an 800gs and also freelander. Comes with pig tails which you can attach direct to the battery to avoid any issues with the CanBus.:beerjug:

Picked up a charger from Lidl the end of last week, second one I've bought (this one is for my father in law). Mate uses one to look after gis Porky GT3 - no compaints
They are excellent and seem to have the same functions as the Cteks.
3.8 Amp max output allows it to look after up to 120Ah batteries so good for most vehicles, will maintain and is good for gel batteries

All for 12.99, you gotta make the call, may still have some in the baskets!

Another vote for CTEK, although I went for the Multi XS3600 as when I bought it I needed it to recover a Discovery battery - which it managed fine.

I also got their "Comfort Indicator Eyelet", basically a 3-colour LED indicator of the state of charge - it's permanently connected to the battery, tucks away fairly neatly, and it's a quick way to connect/disconnect the charger.

I use a real cheap charger..........got it for free with the GSa. It's mounted somewhere in the engine, I think they call it an ALTENATOR.
Any way, apparently it charges your battery every time you use it.
F$*k me, guess the japs designed that trick for BMW.

If you do a lot of short journeys in winter weather the alternator is not producing a charge for long enough, so keeping the bike/car/van on a small battery charger helps get a decent life span out of the battery.

I like Cetek chargers too.

Well following post proved that, lol........
Takes 7 miles to charge the battery, chose the Long Way Home........
Chartlie and Ewan did.................that's why the posers bought the bike.
