Is it possible / will it work if I connect two batterys to one charger... one battery chargers packed up so me thinks.... can I just connect the two batterys to trickle charge from one charger. ??? :nenau

Its not something I would do... I've never seen a charger with leads that make this possible. I rather think there's a reason for this.

You can...it`ll just take longer to charge them.

However,I`d either replace the knackered charger or charge one battery fully then swap to the other one.

Its possible... but what sort of charging are you planning to do... care needs to be taken with this. The problem is, if you just wire them in parallel then one battery will reach charge before the other but you will still be pumping current into it, which wont do it any good. Itll start boiling.

Is it trickle charging you planning though.. during the winter lay up?

the more charged battery will dump charge into the other at potentially high amps. you'd need to connect them with something substantial.

better still, don't do it.

A 12v lead acid battery comprising of 6 cells will reach capacity at 12.6 volts , you wont get much more than this into it and after this you are damaging the battery. The current wont automatically dump into the other cell... itll cause the battery which is charged to vent and bugger it after a while.

you need a balance charger to do what your after properly, which has seperate circuits for the batteries and will scan them continually. you can get a switch which will automatically switch between them but ... there more expensive than another cheap charger.

For the sake of a £10 charger... is it worth it?:augie
