Does anyone recognise this battery make please... On my 99 11GS of 2 1/2 years ownership no ABS... Thought it was probably cheaper lead acid or AGM and cannot decide if its playing up or not and the Optimate topped it up in an hour or so... I use the bike regularly but not as much with the K75RT being used as well...

I work in autoparts and can get batteries easily and will probably load test this one as well... Not having ABS means I have space but the battery box is restrictive and has nearly met the angle grinder today... The slim Oilhead batteries have always been a bit of a compromise...

On the non-GS bikes BMW fitted a spacer so they could fit a smaller battery - all the fitment guides only quote the battery for the ABS bikes - well documented on here a few times that owners of non-ABS bikes find a new battery does not fit

IIRC there are 2 screws to remove to get the spacer out. Standard ABS bike battery is a 51913 or 12V20P such as these

Yep the 51913 is the right one but the ABS 2 hydro goes between the Motronic and the battery and non ABS bikes just have a big space... The battery tray has a welded bracket on the front for the wall between the battery and the hydro pump... The space left by the lack of hydro must be at least 1 1/2 the size of the battery!:) I always look at Tanya for reference.... Good site they have there...

I use a 30 amp hr battery in my r1150rt as my servo brakes been removed etc more ooomp soins it better as well . got the battery from tayna and also county batteries do a good deal and its free delivery . o.s both online too.

Cheers guys.... I charged up this battery and it is holding up... Measured 190CCA on the load tester so will keep an eye on it... When I need to replace then its a bit bigger battery in the space...:thumb
