Strange fault developed today, dashboard battery light intermittently glowing very dimly. Any ideas what the problem might be. Thanks chaps.

Its a '99 R1150 GS with about 42,000 miles on the clock and the alternator drive belt was changed within the last 10,000 miles. The brightness of the light does not alter with engine revs.

I had something similar a while ago, started my 1150, and the battery light was on but very dim. it stayed on for my 25 mile comute home. Next morning start bike, light goes out as it should, never played up since. :nenau

Check your battery earth first.

Is it a permanent faint glow ? - Check the main loom that connects to the instruments, inside the wiring is crimped, badly. it may just be starting to go green with water corrosion. . It's the large plastic covered sleeve that runs under the instrument housing -

Unfortunatly it means cutting the plastic wiring cover open. And if it isn't that you'll have a loom covering that'll need tidying up.
