well i hope its not h i d related, ie siting of the ballast, mines next to the ignition box under the tank

No mate, I still think its battery related,:nenau I have 4 50w ballasts on my 1200 GSA and they have never been a problem, with interference, I just moved Little Beemer's just to make shaw, but to no avail.:blast

I spoke to :bow Norm' himself but the news isn't good, no Odyssey batteries in stock, none in UK (1150 anyway) July 14th earliest date:(

So a question to those with a knowledge of elektrickery... I have had the Battery and Alternator tested and both appear to be fine sort of, the Battery is holding 12volts and charging at 14 volts but for some reason:confused: it is occasionally dripping the previously mentioned acid out of the breather..I desperately want to ride down to the Hograost on Friday will it be OK, I am not asking for a definitive answer or prophecy as to what will happen just a bit of advice, feel free to piss take, in the event of a breakdown Slimbo's mates will be called to accountt:thumb2

Battery

HID ballasts may take a tiny surge but nothing like a starter motor, think abut it, if the HID ballast took any thing much in thre way of current the wiring would melt, this is 12volts don't forget and very high currents are drawn by the starter motor. This is why it has such thick cables. If ballasts
took anything more than a minute curent it would also have massive wires to it. In other words absolute rubbish, the battery is nakard or you've disturbed some dirty connections whilst doing the installation.
So have a look under the tank.

Thanks for that,:thumb2 I did check connections around were working all seemed fine, :augie my thought was and still is the battery on the way out, so new battery seems like the order of the day. Yes I do no the starter draws more amps than the HID ballast :augie but does the ballast draw more amps than a normal bulb on first lighting and is just showing up the weakness in the battery so hence the problem, straw that broke the camels back and all that. :augie

Turns out my probs with the bike was that it was simply in need of a new battery, thanks to Chris (G4) for sortin my bike out today with a new Odyssey battery, all hunky dory now :thumb
