Battery Retaining Plate Fitting

Any clues for the above?
Can’t get the damn thing back on!
The method in the handbook doesn’t work for me, has anybody worked out a clever way to get it back into place?
Original battery is nearly 5 years old now, so I thought it deserved a treat, took it out to clean the terminals and now regretting it!

Yep can be a bugger! When I fitted my replacement battery, I found that once the battery was in place, if I lifted the base of the battery whilst pushing the retaining plate down into the base, it did (with a bit of a push) refit

Leave the battery hanging out a little (don’t push it home)then use the plate to push it up and in.

if you still have the polystyrene foam in place, bottom of the battery. Take it out and trim by 10mm.
