... and Vic Eastwood (met him as lad at a family firework party in early '60's) had Ford Cotrina mk1 estate with muddy bike in the back of it :D

As already mentioned, Saturday afternoon wrestling, 4pm until footie results .. one fond memory of me ol' Gran sitting in the her fireside armchair watching it .. jostling, fidgetting in the chair and her old arms were swinging and she fought them from her chair, we thought the excitement would kill her, but maybe kept her going each week :D an endearing memory of her :thumb

I remember the names Bickers and Eastwood now you mention them.....

But I thought there were two Lampkins at the top of the game at the same time - Dougie and Arthur, and that they were brothers?

Was there also offspring of theirs and one was called Dougie also? :nenau

Al

As an add on to this thread, does antone else remember the Boxing Day Auto point to point Between the Army and I think, Kent motor club ???

My favourite was a little Standard 10 powered "bug" used by the Army team and one of the Kent lot had the first Haflinger I'd ever seen
WOW what a surprise that was, A 600 cc 4x4 mountain goat looking like a Jap mini truck 30 years before Rascals TN7's etc :):rob:rob
It was a must see, every Boxing day in late 50's early 60's

YES me and me dad used to watch it every year brilliant:D
that is a real blast from the past i had completly forgot about it

Eh lad that brought back childhood memories. Right at the beginning he mentions Arthur Lampkin they used to scramble just up the road from me at the royalty pub on Otley chevin. The Lampkin family I think are now big in trials ridding I saw them training only about a year ago on the side of Pennyghent near Settle. Oh for the days when any working class kid could have a go all he needed was a bike. You didn't have the big company's buying the sport.
