I've searched the forums, but haven't found the help I need. Some kind person gave me a TT oil cooler cover as a pressie. Try as I might, I can't seem to remove the beak to fit it - what am I doing wrong?? I removed the 6 Torx screws (4 underneath & the 2 front ones), removed the indicators, loosened the headlight cover, and then started wrestling with the beak. It moved around in practically all directions, but didn' t want to come off, no matter how much I swore at it :D Before I break what will be many £££s worth of BMW plastic in anger, can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong?

Regards,

Charles

MY bike's a 2003 GS Adventure. I'll have another look tomorrow, but there was no mention of any more screws in the TT instructions - but then they are not renowned for the clarity of their information - I'm actually amazed there were any English instructions with it!

Charles

Seem to recall there's a torx or allen just inside the beak at each side just behind/under the instrument binacle - but I'm not at home so can't have a look. Then you can just drop the beak enough to slide to cooler cover into place without taking beak off altogether, reposition & tighten. Mines a std GS but should be same.

You could try

Being rammed into a car, it worked for me, unfortuanatly it removed a lot more.

Thanks Gazza - that seems pretty much what I did - maybe I just didn't pull it hard enough :mmmm
Looks like I'll have to try again tomorrow

Havent seen a TT oil cooler protector but if it's like a Touratech one this is the way I fitted mine-took about 10mins

1/ Remove screen
2/ Remove silver instrument cover
3/ Remove headlight cover
4/ Looking at bike from front you see will ball/socket headlight adjuster on bottom right of headlight - disconnect
5/ Remove headlights
6/ Insert oil cooler protector
7/ Put it back together again

Metalman - that seems like an alternative way that may work better, as the torx screws are quite difficult to get to - especially the front ones. Mine is a Touratech guard - I just couldn't be bothered to spell Touratech :) Looks like I've got a job to do after my bike's been serviced tomorrow.

Charles
