Recently I decided that I needed a more effective rear light on me boik but being a skin flint I had palpitations when I saw how much the pre made LED arrays cost (£55  ) from our friendly speedy chap up there :mmmm so I've been keeping an eye out on the Maplin site for suitable components. They have just started selling these.
It is 12V, hyper bright white and comes in a 400mm strip that can be snipped up into 100mm segments.....perfect for an 1150 rear light lense.
After some DIY jiggery pokery I managed to fit all four strips onto my rear light reflector still keeping the original bulb in place. Two wired to the running light and two onto the brake light circuit. Result! :)
Apologise for the pants photo  It really works quite well, very visible even in full daylight (brake light not on in pic) :thumb2 Before it was like a dull glow :(
Nowt so satisfying as getting a mini weekend project completed succesfully & as a double bonus I saved £35 to spend on petrol & beer instead :thumb2

And one of the LED strips. £19 + P&P each BTW. You could even add a strip facing forward if you were so inclined
There are nine super bright led's per 100mm segment....................It's bright!

I were referring to the 'ole wot the original blub sits in. That 'tis one of those blubs with a transmitter in it wot tells another brake light to come on wot is stuck to me lid :)

will need a set for me givi top box, i know you can get a light fitting kit so it connects when you mount the topbox, but i have 3 bikes and don't want to buy 3 kits, anyone got a source of connectors :augie

So basically........................................ you're a Flasher:eek:

Is the number plate illuminated as well as by a standard filament bulb?

Might be :D
Yes the number plate is very well lit indeed now, it was just about legal before the upgrade

did it today, stuck them down using a cut up double sided sticky pad unused from a set of hotgrips, still with the origonal bulb and is as bright as you say, thanks :thumb

gonna get another 3, they will slide into the central red of my givi top box and look awsome, just need to find a connector :D
