Belarus Border

Hi Folks,

I am travelling to Belarus the end of May on my GSA and just want to ask if anyone here has crossed the border at Brest/Terespol on the Polish/Belarus border?

Did you have to queue with the cars or did you skip up to the top of the queue? I have crossed here before but only with humanitarian aid which gets priority and goes automatically to the front.

How long did you spend at the border?

Language etc is no problem for me and I have my visa , international driver permit, green card and vehicle docs sorted already.

Any tips on your experiences would be welcome.

I have a friend, Ed, who has been in Minsk twice, riding a small motorbike, last month and last year.
-I'll ask him for you!

He love the area, he has been in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Poland many times, always riding one of his small motorbikes.

On the picture you can see what type of GPS he have! The best!

Thanks Liv,that would be nice. I've been to Belarus many times and Russia and Ukraine once each. This is my First trip by motorbike though. Thanks for the reply.

it depends how lucky you are, the cues can be horrendous and if the locals who make the crossing have the arse on. They'll tell you for certain if you should be heading to the back of the cue....

we crossed higher up and that was easier... are you heading to Russia of just Belarus?

I've not crossed onto Belarus but would always jump to the front of the 'cue' on a bike at any former Soviet border crossing, if the locals get snotty wave an international driving license in an important manner then ignore them

Try asking President Lukashenko for a personal invite he's into his bikes when he's not locking up political prisoners, that's his son on the bike in front of him.

I'm heading to Belarus, have lots of friends there from voluntary work I did over the years. My previous visits were with humanitarian aid convoys and medical equipment deliveries. Hence not used to waiting at the border, usually got the express treatment( as express as any post soviet sytem can manage, a mere 14 stamps required on the vehicle docs)

Taking the scenic route on the way out via Prague and the Tatras in Slovakia and approaching Belarus from southern Poland. Skipping Ukraine to save two extra border crossings.

Hmmm........ not a bad idea. That photo is from a bike fest last year or the year before in Minsk.

I will probably wing it and go to the top of the queue as Timolgra suggested and see what happens.As the motto says" Who dares Wins". ( What they don't mention is that the losers are dead!)
