Chimay

ace place to visit for the racing... entry includes access to the field for free camping...use the pits for bog n showers (get up EARLY)... n short ealk to town...or the local supermarket.
Easy days ride from calais.

Avoid the blue chimay beer..... it fecks ya legs..... but the red is ace....

Pub half way up the right side of the track smells of piss in the sun coz of all the piss on the outside.... but an ace weekend.

gedine is as good.... n worth a trip too

Ferry Booked for 23rd.........................

Ferry booked for 23rd for me and my two teenagers - look out for a Red yamaha Diversion (600!) outfit if you are there, and come and say hello.

My daughter hits 18 on the Sunday, so should be a fantastic weekend, then thinking of a day in Paris on the way home.

Ride safe all,

Keith.

What a fantastic weekend Gedinne is ,like chimay both these road races laid back and very friendly, everything is open to you to wander round .Not much chance of bumping into Parrish or Whit, but a few known bike reporters like to make an holiday of it.Will be camping there with the wife and friends and the forecast for the weekend looks good ,fun and sun all the way.

where r u camping ?, havent looked into this yet but I assume there will be numerous places to camp.:thumb2

As you head south just out of Gedinne, a few yards past the supermarket on the right hand side there's a road on the right at the fishing pond, the campsite is just up there. Or if you go to the track you can camp bang across from the pits which I believe may be free. The campsite by the ponds are clean and well kept with a bar and restaurant on site.

Just been looking at the Dfds deal but leaving on the Thursday back Monday, cheers for the heads up.

Chimay was good..... a tad on the warm side though.
The event at Chimay has been running for 20yrs,and the locals say last year was the first time the,ve had wet racing. Last year was the first time we had missed in 10 yrs,so I can confirm most of what they say. This weekend looks to be a scorcher also.(Belgian road racing , don't, you just love it.

I like all the rules and regulations and health and safety they abide by.....

I went last year..was only wet sometimes..

As daft as it seems, keeping things simple and straight forward works well over there,as long as people don,t take the piss they leave you to look after yourself like a proper adult.I know it's. not for every one,and its hard to believe Brussels is just up the road but I find it a very refreshing take on things, plenty of elements of the way we were.
