Belgium to the Black Forest, returning through France. (salad days and room 303)

Some interesting places there - its given me some inspiration for a route back from Switzerland next July. Ghent looks well worth a visit (went to Zeebrugge in May)

Gent is very nice :D

I must visit zeebrugge it looks good :beerjug: a must for a future trip I also like the look of the Ardennes..... to many places not enough time :blast

Nice report and photos.

Personally, Mannheim would be one if the last places I'd stay in that area but fair play if you enjoyed it :beerjug:

Nice job Dean, very good and all that :clap

Now lets get down to the nitty gritty.

WHAT are the details of this, hmmmmm come on , come on. We need the full story and lots of pictures. NOW.

fair comment Ronno :thumb2

I must admit I did not put a lot of thought into Mannheim, it was just on the route at a time to stop for a bed and a good meal with some nice beer of course :D was all that was wanted before passing through.

Was not staying long enough to enjoy to much :D :D mind you less than 12 miles down the road Heidelberg looks nice. :beerjug:

I was actually going to mention Heidelberg in my post. It's a cracking place. As is the likes of Bacharach am Rhein if you want somewhere smaller and quieter. But much much nicer than Mannheim :D

Edit: Bacharach might have been slightly too far north for your needs. But Bad Dürkheim and Deidesheim are in your area :thumb
