Bell Ringing

I've 'received ' a Flashing orange Bell in my bottom right hand tool tray by the clock. If i right click it I get a choice, open it or leave, I choose to leave cos I don't know what it is, a Virus or what? it is unsolicited and probably spam, please, how can I get rid of it safely??????? thanks

Have you tried right-clicking on it ... sometimes it gives you a few more options, and a bit more of a clue as to what it's trying to tell you.

Hi Rob, if you haven't used ICQ dont touch the the bell. It sounds very fishy, sorry don't know enough to advise, like you I would ask the teckies on this site.

This sends alerts out for stuff like weather and news from what I can gather.........the alerts can be sent minimised to the toolbox and appear as bells, but with 'ringing' type semi-circular lines on either side...is this what you have?


I'm a heavy ICQ user but i havent seen a bell pop up or in fact any bell icons associated with ICQ so unless you'd downloaded a new scheme.


Do Ctrl-alt-delete and select see what's running...if you can , screen shot it and post it....this will tell us what's running.
