I've got a big Adventure tank on my 1150GS. I realise this has been covered quite a bit before but can anyone advise how much to bend the float arm so that the fuel light doesn't come on so early. A rough angle of the bend or a distance in mm of how much lower the float should sit would be useful.

Tanks.

it is just about impossible to do just reset the milage trip every time you fill up this will give you a good idea of whats left. I've done this with no probs.

Hi Dave:)

Yes, this is what I've done so far but thought I'd maybe give it a try as it's very vague just going by the miles since you last filled up. Mileage from a big tank seems to vary and of course it'll change with the kind of riding.
Cheers anyway.

Assuming it is an 1150 engine expect to see 45 miles per gallon - this is handy as it means 10 miles per litre, soooo if you do 200 miles it should take around 20 litres, always worked for me :) It is worth drilling the inner filler tube at the top as it gets the air out and lets you get an extra litre(ish) in - just ride it immediately if you do this!

Big tanks.

Wot I did was to carry a spare gallon can on the bike and ran it using the speedo till it ran out. Actually got to 316 miles and I chickend out and filled it up!.

Can't remember how much of a bend I put in my float arm but it was not much. You need a gentle radius over the length of the arm - may drop the float by 10mm?????

I appear to have got mine spot on firts time round by luck, low fuel light comes on with 4.5 litres remaining.
