Righto, the saga is almost over!! (I hope I haven't spoken too soon :blast).

Rear torque arm front bushing is on order which will hopefully finally sort out the roughness when decelerating.

The bike runs well now, just need to sort out the chronic back brake.

The front brake works well, but the rear brake pulsates badly and has about as much effect on slowing the old girl down as throwing a sticky sweet out on the road with a tow rope attached to it.

Any solutions out there to my rear brake woes? I'd love to put a new rear hub on, but I believe they are unavailable. I also believe that they cannot be skimmed due to the spoke castings.

I have no idea what shoes are in there, but no one has commented on the rear pads being low (and plenty have been in there to look, lol.

If you gys can't help me with a solution, it looks like I'm going to have to leave my cop cops out in the sun for a couple of weeks :D:D:D:D

I would take the wheel off and check the inside diameter with a set of calipers
Hope it isnt what I think - the hub is deformed because it has been worn past its maximum diameter
If you measure in a few places you may find that there is 2 different diameters
somewhere I have read that you can get um re lined but others may help with advice also you may notice that the spokes are looser
Sorry if I am right
Ive sent you a pm :thumb2

Much the same as I was thinking. Deformed brake drum.

When we bought Jill's 100 the rear brake was pathetic. On inspection the shoes had about 75% material left. However I decided to swap them out for a new pair. Unfortunately I could only get EBC shoes (You may already know i have a personal hatred for anything EBC :barfand try to avoid them at all cost) Much to my supprise they mad a significant difference the the braking performance. Far from modern, or even seventies Japanese, but a whole lot better than it was.

So the moral of the story is: New shoes do make stopping a little easier. :thumb2

See you all down there Val.
