Kent - the nice bit
Currently my bike has the standard cat and can (with dent after scrape with a car) but would like to change to non-cat and aftermarket can. Don't want to go too mad with the money but would welcome sensible advice on which make to buy and where I could get the best deal. If anyone fancies fitting the set-up for cash or beer or both let me know. Cheers

Get yourself a Remus Y-piece and forget about fitting an aftermarket can, just refit the old standard can, even if it has got a dent.

Hang around the wanted section and a second hand y-piece will be along shortly I expect :nenau

Do the whole job yourself in less than an hour...sorted. :thumb

i have a std can you can have, and a y piece will be about £150 fitting can be arranged ,i have also got a couple of second hand remus road legal cans cheap if you want one cheers craig pm if interested

Try keeping the cat, & removing the silencer. Try a search, not done it myself,(any conversion) but read loads, both here & on the US site.

Would appear to work.

Note of caution here, lots of people have opinions (myself included), but please base your actions on facts. Lots of people on this site have had the Y-piece & gone back to the standard set-up, wheras others have stuck with the Y-piece. ME, I run the std. system, if I did anything it would possibly? be to keep the cat. & add a short stubby pice of open pipe. But what do I know?

Hey Tinker, thanks for the offer but the distance to ride to Solihull and back in a day puts me off as I do 20K a year already - sorry. Thanks guys for the other advice.

Y & standard can

Best set up in my opinion - tried the Remus Revolution, baffle in & baffle out - nice fruity sound when out for a quick blat but soon became an anoying drone on a long run & vibrated more. Went back to standard can - just enough noise for me & if anything slightly better mid range pickup - just my seat of pants dyno tho' - She's still plenty quick enough for me anyway :thumb

Cheers

LeoVince SBK Exhaust

Still available from MPS or the fastone on the old flea-bay is the LeoVince SBK exhaust for the R1100GS. priced at a modest £ 135.00 P&P £ 6.95.

If you're on a budget like I was this might suit you Sir !

Sounds like a Ducati on full bore but can be ridden sensibly without upsetting the neighbours. Dead easy to fit.

You pays yer money and have the choice.:beerjug:

Having only the R1100GS I didn't have the option of keeping the 1st silencer (Cat on yours), which is the probable route I would have taken as the ones I've heard are very unobtrusive like the original setup.
