I am always searching for the best base layers and had up until now considered Icebreaker the best
However
Somehow or other I fell through a YouTube rabbit hole of arctic survival and some Latvian special forces bloke was blathering on about mesh undershirts so I had a google and found these from a Norwegian company called Brynje
Obviously trapping air is the key a bit like grandads old string vest
www.nordiclife.co.uk
I fell a bit further down the internet shopping wormhole and also noticed that they did these
www.nordiclife.co.uk
This is a fantastic heavy weight merino top but with a mesh type lining to trap more air
I can say that the quality is amazing and makes Icebreaker feel a bit cheap and I can also vouch for how warm and cozy it is.
Not cheap for the merino or indeed for just a mesh shirt but bloody good and well recommended
