For the past few years, I have headed off to Scotland on my Moto and in the Car Via Larne or Belfast to Scotland.

The bike trips were about £60 a few years ago. Last year it was more like £80.

Anyways, I just tried to get a 2 nighter to Scotland.... car and 4 adults in May..... £270 ....... Last year I paid £189 for a week in Scotland.

My 3 night bike trip in June is now £110, compared to £80 last year.

I did use motorsport travel, who no longer offer the Irish crossings in their website........

Tried Nutt travel, but their quote was only a quid out from P&O website.

I need to book at least one car trip and 3 bike trips before Sept, so I was wondering if anyone out there has a way around the latest price hikes???

just a thought on betty' post but i was in a bike club that was given a discount voucher from stena. yes we had to use this voucher a number of times through the year to retain it but it was a good saving not just on bikes but any form of transport. would it be possible for ukgs members to get this:nenau

Nutt Travel still offer decent discounting on bikes on ferries but they will be the first to tell you that they have no concessionary rates for cars.

To be honest I tend to place the car trips with them anyway, they really have looked after me not only on the price of the bike trips but changing ferries and such when that unexpected event occurs. :augie

Another thumbs up for Nutts Travel - I tried them yesterday for Larne-Troon return for bike and 2 adults, saved me £27 over the website price, and no charge for credit card either :clap

Sorry this doesn't help you with car bookings, but I know I'll def use them again!

MCN's website travel discounts

When i booked my Stranraer - Belfast crossings for the NW200 this may, back in January, i went through MCN's website 'travel' section, which was offering a discounted bike & rider price. Take a look, it may still be there... :blagblah

Stevie try Getaway Travel in Comber 02891 873732. Saved A van and three adults cost me £204 with them compared to £314 with Stena online!

Mark, thanks for the idea, will give them a go next time.

Phil, I just received my £100 worth of Tesco vouchers yesterday and the friends who are going along with us had never heard of the deals on vouchers. They are cashing in another £100, so that looks like it will go a long way towards the ticket. (which has gone up to £291 this week)

I always use them with P&O, but I had hoped to keep mine for one of my Scotland trips on the bike. Looks like it will be Nutt travel for the bike and Tesco for the car from now on:aidan
