for my two penneth:
The hardware in a large chunk are the same, most laptops including macs run intel processors with standard memory:
HP: cheap HP are poo....pretty much throughout the range, printers / laptops high end stuff is excellent as is the support.
Ibm/Lenovo: Chinese backed and big money pushing, they are trying for Dells crown, better quality at low end.
Dell: hit or miss, they use different manufactuers for different models which is why you get a variance in quality
Acer: 5th largest in the world, again big money behind them, pooor after sales support.
Sony: Expensive but shiney, they're trying to forge the apple style but for PCs, nice though, shite parts service....send in your sony and we'll quote to repair, that will cost £65 to get that quote..."but we're a reseller" oh that'll be £50 then !!
Apple: pretty, very pretty, will do the job but not very good at the more business orientated, good after sales support, also annoying Itunes integration....your either with itunes or against itunes.
Samsung: Good specs, questionable hardware support
I'm a reseller for most hardware manufacturers (including apple) the best compromise at the minute is HP but I'm sure it will change....especially as HP have annouced they are pulling out of the PC market.
You can be lucky/unlucky with any bit of kit, assume they will go wrong, if you have the money go for an HP or apple with a 3yr warranty (most HP stuff has it) if not go for Lenovo
Now where's my
